Plasticolors, Inc. Launches New Standard Colorant Palettes
Ashtabula, Ohio – November 20, 2008 – Plasticolors, Inc. has created standard colorant palettes for eight of the company’s pigment dispersion lines for paint and coatings applications. The standard colorant palettes provide formulators with a concise and cost effective method in achieving an unlimited number of colors in paint and coatings applications.
“For eight of our pigment dispersion lines, we have determined the primary masstones, or single pigment dispersions, that are needed to achieve a wide array of blended colors in paint and coatings formulations,” said Mike McCormick, Plasticolors’ Industry Manager for Paint and Coatings. “This approach offers advantages in improved economics and reduced inventories by providing formulators with a streamlined offering capable of achieving virtually any color.”
With the addition of these palettes, the number of standardized colorant lines available from Plasticolors has more than doubled. Standard colorant palettes are now available in the following colorant lines:
- 73 Series – UV coatings*
- DL Series – Urethane coatings*
- 50-9400 Series – Water-based coatings
- ED Series – Epoxy coatings*
- 50-990 Series – Water-based coatings
- EDC – Epoxy coatings*
- DAB Series – Polyaspartic coatings*
- Spartacryl™ PM – Solvent-based coatings
The new standardized palettes have been integrated with Plasticolors’ UCD™ line of colorants allowing formulators to take advantage of improved economies based on combined release orders. Effective November 1, 2008, all colorants included in the standard palettes can be combined within a single order that is shipped at one time to one location. The new combined pricing for standard colorants provides the ability to reduce colorant prices through order planning.
According to McCormick, “Although there are many advantages to standardized palettes, there are some instances where formulators need a custom colorant package. Plasticolors will continue to support customers’ custom colorant needs, but at the same time we are offering standardized palettes for those applications that can benefit from such an approach.” Samples and product line data sheets for all of the standardized palettes are available upon request.
